CGSA welcomes Velas Latinoamérica regatta

Visiting tall ships BAP Union (left) and the Cisne Branco at the Guayaquil Port

Contecon Guayaquil (CGSA) welcomed the arrival of two tall ships – the BAP Union from Peru and the Cisne Branco from Brazil on 3 May.

The ships are part of this year’s Velas Latinoamérica, a nautical event held every four years since 2010 as part of the bicentennial celebration of the independence of Latin American countries. The event gathers tall ships from participating nations’ navies to sail through the waters of South and Central America. It also aims to strengthen the friendship between future generations of crew members and officers of tall ships, in addition to the sharing of culture from each participating nation.

CGSA employees, their families and friends, and other civilians were allowed entry to the terminal to visit the two boats. The vessels docked at the Port of Guayaquil for three days before sailing towards their next ports of destination to complete their more than 12,000 nautical mile journey.
