OPC wins 2021 Chairman’s Cup
Anders Kjeldsen, ICTSI senior vice president and regional head for Latin America, received the Chairman’s Cup trophy on behalf of OPC.
Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana (OPC) is the top-performing business unit of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) for 2021.
OPC’s performance topped the rest of the ICTSI Group despite the difficult business environment. The win also highlights the company’s ability to sustain discipline on its operating expenses (OPEX). OPC’s 2021 OPEX is the lowest per TEU since the company started its operation. Last year, OPC also received a special award for being the best in OPEX management.
Also part of this year’s best performers is runner-up Contecon Manzanillo, which posted impressive revenue and EBITDA. Honorable mentions were given to Manila International Container Terminal and Matadi Gateway Terminal for increased volume and EBITDA.
The annual Chairman’s Cup serves as the performance benchmark for all terminals in the ICTSI Group. The winners are evaluated based on several criteria including volume handled, revenue, EBITDA and net income, among others.
Having won the Chairman’s Cup for the first time in 2015, OPC is the first business unit to receive the annual recognition twice.
