PICT holds fire drill with Karachi Port Fire Services
Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT) recently collaborated with the Karachi Port Fire Services to conduct a fire-fighting drill as part of enhancing safety and security at the terminal.
The drill included the use of the terminal’s well-established fire hydrant system, which covers the entire facility at the Port of Karachi. The fire hydrant operational exercise was carried as a regular routine by the inhouse emergency response team to strengthen workplace safety.
The Karachi Port Fire Station, located in front of the terminal’s main entrance, gives PICT an added advantage in responding to fire emergencies. Both PICT’s hydrant system and the Port Authority’s fire emergency facilities were utilized during the joint fire-fighting exercise, which was comprehensively designed to increase employees’ awareness on the appropriate emergency response procedures during a fire.
“PICT upholds safety as a prime element of sustainable terminal operations. Our team puts up all the required effort to continually raise the standard of workplace safety through proactive measures and holistic compliance with industry best practices,” said Khurram Aziz Khan, PICT chief executive officer.
