AGCT: Croatia’s best transport company for 2nd straight year

Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT), for the second year in a row, was recognized as the best company in Croatia under the transport and warehousing industry for the financial year 2020 at the 13th Zlatna Bilanca (Golden Balance) Awards.

Sponsored by the Croatian Government through the ministries of Commerce and Finance, the Golden Balance Awards is organized by leading Croatian financial and electronic services company Financijska Agencija (FINA or the Financial Agency) to recognize outstanding companies based on financial performance criteria such as profitability, stability, liquidity, efficiency, and activity.

Emmanuel Papagiannakis, AGCT Chief Executive Officer, accepted the award in a ceremony held in Zagreb and thanked FINA for the recognition.

“Following the 13 percent growth last year despite the pandemic, the port managed to increase rail volumes by 50 percent over the last two years. Volume from outside Croatia now accounts for more than 70 percent of the overall rail volume, establishing Rijeka as a regional gateway for Southeast and Central European cargo,” said Mr. Papagiannakis.

He added: “These developments are leading to major investments that help spur the regional and Croatian economy, as well as benefit Croatian importers and exporters with the provision of an efficient port. We thank our loyal customers, the Croatian Government, the Rijeka Port Authority, and all our dedicated and hardworking employees for being instrumental in the realization of these achievements.”

Aside from winning the Golden Balance Award, AGCT also ranked as the third best local company in Rijeka in Leader magazine’s list of the Top 1,000 largest companies in Croatia.
