BGT celebrates handling of 400th RORO/MPV
Basra Gateway Terminal (BGT) celebrated a milestone in August with the handling of the Global Mermaid, the 400th roll-on, roll-off/multipurpose vessel to dock at the terminal.
The feat was made possible through the immense efforts of the Oil and Gas Team, whose teamwork and strict adherence to international HSSE standards resulted in zero lost time injuries.
To date, BGT has handled more than 1.5 million freight tons of cargo which include heavy lifts with pieces weighing up to 350 tons, 350,000 pipes whose combined length of 4,200 kilometers is the distance from Umm Qasr to Paris, and 100,000 vehicles.
