ICTSI Foundation helps urban farming project for Tondo community

The ICTSI Foundation has extended support to the Buhay sa Gulay (Alive with Vegetables) Program of the Don Bosco Parish in Tondo, Manila.

The community garden program serves as an income-generating activity for the residents of Tondo, whose sources of livelihood have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.

The Don Bosco Parish, in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform, the Department of Agriculture, and the City of Manila, converted a portion of its 8,000-square meter football field into 49 plots where selected beneficiaries can plant vegetables that are later sold after harvest.  With support from the ICTSI Foundation, the parish is set to increase the number of vegetable plots from 49 to 200 and accommodate more families from 17 barangays into the program.
