ICTSI Foundation rebuilds typhoon-damaged classrooms

The ICTSI Foundation, together with the Aklat, Gabay, at Aruga tungo sa Pag-Angat at Pag-Asa (AGAPP) Foundation, have completed the reconstruction of Silid Pangarap classrooms in the island province of Catanduanes. The classrooms sustained major damages from Typhoon Rolly last year.

The ICTSI Foundation donated PhP5 million to help rebuild classrooms at Juan M. Alberto Memorial Elementary School, Virac Pilot Elementary School, Virac Central Elementary School, Cabcab Elementary School, Sto. Domingo Elementary School, and Codon Elementary School. The repairs were completed last August.

Silid Pangarap classrooms are libraries or pre-school classrooms in public schools designated by the Department of Education (DepEd) to cater to the underserved and disadvantaged communities. Fully furnished and fully equipped with learning materials, they provide kindergarten students with a conducive learning environment and support the DepEd’s K to 12 program that advocates literacy and early childhood care and development.

Aside from building libraries and pre-school classrooms, the AGAPP Foundation also offers training on integrated early childhood education.
