ICTSI responds to COVID-19
International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) is working closely with the Philippine government, clients, and stakeholders to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure the unimpeded movement of critical goods like food and medical supplies.
To maintain the efficiency of its operations at the Port of Manila, the Philippines’ principal gateway, ICTSI is coordinating with concerned agencies and stakeholders to facilitate the timely pullout of containers from the port. The measure aims to improve the utilization of the port’s capacity as vessels continue to arrive and unload cargo.
Aside from efforts to mitigate disruption in the supply chain, ICTSI is also extending assistance to the communities affected by the enhanced community quarantine.
Together with the country’s top 20 business groups, ICTSI has helped raise over PhP1.5 billion for Project Ugnayan to fund the distribution of grocery vouchers for Metro Manila’s urban poor residents.
The Company has also donated sacks of rice and thermal scanners to neighboring communities in Tondo, and shared food packs to the city’s medical frontliners and homeless.
ICTSI is also doing its best to guarantee the safety and welfare of its employees. As some businesses are forced to reduce payroll and employment due to the economic impact of the pandemic, ICTSI continues to lead the way in ensuring the employment and benefits of its workers.
Non-essential personnel have been provided work-from-home arrangements, while those who continue to report to the terminal are provided with personal protective equipment and food packs to bring home to their families. Strict health measures like thermal screenings and social distancing are also implemented in all entry points across the Manila International Container Terminal.
ICTSI continues to monitor the situation and focus on keeping the free flow of trade and the safety of all our staff.
