MIT celebrates 3 years of excellence
The 20th of May marked the third year since Motukea International Terminal (MIT) started operations in Port Moresby. During this period, MIT has been handling increasing volumes.
International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), MIT’s parent company, is a pioneer in Papua New Guinea’s port industry for introducing first-class global standards in HSSE, operations, information technology, cargo handling equipment, and several other areas of port operations. In just three years, ICTSI was able to increase productivity and reduce ship dwell time and truck turnaround time in both MIT and South Pacific International Container Terminal (SPICT) in Lae. ICTSI also introduced innovations like contactless billing, which has become a standard for other companies in PNG.
The results of ICTSI’s operations in Port Moresby and Lae have been impressive and acknowledged by all the stakeholders in the supply chain, the port authorities, and the PNG government. The Company will continue its pioneering work in setting the gold standard for port operations in Papua New Guinea.
