OPC adds New Orleans – Honduras service
Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana (OPC), in partnership with Seaboard Marine, recently launched a new weekly directly service that connects Puerto Cortés in Honduras to the Port of New Orleans–one of the largest and busiest ports in the United States of America.
The New Orleans – North Central America service makes weekly calls to Puerto Cortes, and Puerto Santo Tomas in Guatemala, providing the most efficient and fastest route for businesses in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua to expand their exports to the US, and possibly to Canada via rail. The service has a transit time of less than three days and can transport both refrigerated and dry containers.
Seaboard Marine operates in almost 40 ports, connecting the North, Central, and South Americas. OPC’s partnership with Seaboard Marine reaffirms the Company’s leadership and competitiveness in the region.
OPC handled the maiden call of Seaboard Marine’s AS Fiorella at its newly built Pier 6 on 8 February, marking the start of the service. The 1,284-TEU boxship calls Puerto Cortes every Saturday.
