OPC cited for being socially responsible

Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana (OPC) was recently awarded the Socially Responsible Company (ESR) Seal by the Honduran Foundation for Corporate Social Responsibility (Fundación Hondureña de Responsabilidad Social Empresarial or FUNDAHRSE) for the fifth consecutive year.

The ESR Seal recognizes OPC as one of the best companies with responsible business practices that benefit the Honduran people.

Meyvi Castañeda, OPC Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, accepted the award during a virtual ceremony held on 3 December, along with representatives of 67 other companies that continuously contribute to the sustainable development of the country.

“This award confirms our commitment not only to be a profitable company, but also to improve the economic, social, and environmental condition of the communities where we operate.  It inspires us to continue working on initiatives that promote shared value actions, which are part of OPC’s culture,” says Ms. Castañeda.

Being awarded with the ESR Seal for the fifth consecutive year means that the company’s initiatives for the benefit of the community and the country are paying off.  It also mirrors the company’s evolution and increased support for the community through programs that focus on education, health, and environment.

Established in 2007 by FUNDAHRSE, the ESR Seal recognizes companies that integrate responsible action into their business models and comply with more than 200 indicators under the Corporate Social Responsibility foci: governance, human rights, fair operating practices, responsible marketing, environment, community participation, and labor practices.
