SPICT, MIT handle 1st COSCO vessel to call PNG
ICTSI South Pacific recently welcomed the arrival of Hansa Cloppenburg, the first COSCO-operated container vessel to call Papua New Guinea.
The 1,732-TEU boxship made its maiden calls to South Pacific International Container Terminal and Motukea International Terminal on October 8 and 11, respectively.
The vessel is one of two sailing under COSCO’s China-North Australia-South Pacific (CAP) Service. Sailing twice a month, the service links the ports of Yangpu in China, Hong Kong, Cebu in the Philippines, Port Moresby and Lae in Papua New Guinea, and Brisbane, Townsville, and Darwin in Australia with a complete port rotation of 30-32 days.
COSCO’s CAP Service strengthens the connection between PNG and the world, giving local importers and exporters the opportunity to expand their businesses and reach customers around the world.
ICTSI South Pacific is honored and committed to work with COSCO and all shipping lines in expanding the flow of goods in and out of PNG.
