SPICT plants trees to celebrate International Day of the Forest

South Pacific International Container Terminal (SPICT) organized a tree planting activity last 22 March to celebrate International Day of Forests.

George Gware, SPICT General Manager, delivered the opening remarks and led the activities at the terminal’s botanical garden together with employees and representatives from the Papua New Guinea Forest Authority.

In preparation for the tree planting, 80 employee volunteers cleared the garden area of bushes and other debris. They were assisted by a group from the Australian Consular General’s Office and Laga Industries Limited, who provided refreshments after the activity.

SPICT thanks all the volunteers who participated in the clearing and tree planting activities, and looks forward to more meaningful engagements with local businesses, nongovernment organizations, and community and stakeholder groups.
